On Friday, October 12th at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, over 4,500 Utah youth gathered for the Solutions Summit. The Summit, presented by United States Senator Mike Lee and Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes, featured the DEA 360 and Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation’s Youth Summit on Opioid Awareness.
The Youth Summit, hosted by Emmy Award-winning broadcaster Alema Harrington, and singer, songwriter and recording artist, Lexi Walker, presented a 3-hour program of education and entertainment. The cornerstone of the summit was the movie, “If Only,” and also featured educational and compelling presentations from Jim Wahlberg, Amber Baum, and ultimate fighting champion Court McGee, among many other local advocates and celebrities.
On Tuesday, November 13th, more than 7,000 middle and highschool students and teachers from throughout West Virginia gathered at Charleston Civic Center for the West Virginia Youth Summit on Opioid Awareness. The high energy event focused on delivering the "drug free is up to me” message to all in attendance.
The Summit, MC’ed by local media personalities Amanda Barren of the NBC affiliate WSAZ TV, and radio personalities Coach Kidd and Lauren Meyers of Electric 102.7, featured presentations from West Virginia Governor Jim Justice, US Attorney Mike Stuart; Jim Wahlberg; former NFL Player, Chris Massey; Ultimate Fighter, Court McGee; and several prevention and education advocates. The event also featured musical performances by country singer Jessie Chris; Rapper Antoine “AC” Cabarrus; and the band, Qiet.
